A new format this year spreading the eight programmes 8 weeks. Simon visits Svalbard in the high arctic to see Barnacle Geese start their migration to the UK.

Springwatch – Close Encounters1 off, 60 minute pre-recorded programme.

Simon reveals some of the tricks of the trade that enables him to get ‘up close and personal’ with the UK’s wildlife. He also shares some of his favourite encounters with wild creatures and shows us how to get a closer look at wildd otters.

In week one Simon visits Petworth House in West Sussex for the Fallow deer rut then moves to Birmingham’s urban jungle to see muntjac deer. In week 2 Simon travels to Anglesey to watch Ravens and finishes with a dive off the Dorset coast to film congar eels.
