WILD DORSET With Simon King
Added 19/10/2011 to Website News

The heaths, moors, marshes and woodland of the Isle of Purbeck and Jurassic Coast provide the stage for the 2012 Wildlife Whisperer holiday, with Simon King.
Simon and his colleagues will take you on a journey of discovery into the secret wild corners of the county of Dorset, hoping to reveal some of the most charismatic and compelling of wild creatures in the nation.
The rare and elusive Dartford warbler, the dashing and mercurial hobby, nightjar, sika and roe deer, smooth snakes, sand lizards and badgers, all are creatures of these southern wild places and we will hope to see most of them and a great deal more besides.
We will be staying in the Springfield Country Hotel (complete with Spa and swimming pool) near Wareham Forest. The hotel’s location is ideal for access to many of the natural gems of Dorset, including the RSPB reserve at Arne, the rich marine and shore-life of Kimmeridge Bay, heaths, forests and acid bog. From the hotel we will explore the area each day with groups of ten people per guide. Every group will spend at least one full day, and several all-group excursions with Simon.
A visit to Brownsea Island which is home to one of the last populations of English red squirrels and an evening vigil to watch wild badgers coming out to feed will both be a part of the experience. Simon and guides will share some of their unparalleled field craft skills and offer hints and tips to photographers who wish to improve their technique.
This, together with surprise visits to locations rich in largely unseen wild creatures will ensure this is a trip not to be missed.

Simon is doing great job. The wildlife is the real beauty of and also the attraction for tourist. In India also there are some people or wildlife lovers who are taking part to save the wildlife sanctuaries and make it better. The wildlife tourism is also the most important. http://www.traveladda.com/wildlife.html
I'm going n can't wait. Not sure how I'll get there but it will be worth it. Simon's holidays are always awesome! It will be good to see old friends again...and make new ones!
This part of the country is so beautiful. i lived in the area for all my childhood and had many happy days in and around Brownsea. I am sure everyone will have a truly superb time. I hear there are now otters on Brownsea making this Island an even better place to visit.
We have had many many holidays in Purbeck as a family and have been to all these places. We love it! With Simon's excellent knowledge and experience, you will have a wonderful time - is there room in a suitcase for any of our family?? (Matthew's Mumxx)
We've been fortunate enough to have shared two holidays with Simon - one in Speyside and this year in the Shetland Isles. Both were fabulous experiences not to be missed. Sadly for us we are unable to go on this one, but if you are thinking about it my advice would be - go for it! You'll have a fabulous time with the best wildlife guide and fieldcraft expert out there. Experiencing Simon's passion for wildlife is enough in itself!
Looking forward to it already!

I am looking forward to going. I have not been to some of the places mentioned. I bet I have missed out on some real hidden gems.
