Wildlife Photo Competition

It's competition time! The Wildlife Whisperer Photography Competition is now open for entries so get outside and start taking those photos!

Closing date for entries is Thursday 12th April 2012. The winner will be announced Tuesday 1st May 2012.

NOTE: To help speed up the reviewing process we've decided to set up a Flickr Competition Group. To enter, simply join our Flickr group and upload your entries. They will be instantly available for all to see!

Wherever you live, whatever time of year it is, there's always an abundance of opportunites to capture that special wildlife moment on camera.

Whether it's iconic images of 'once in a lifetime' events that you just happened to capture because you were in the right place at the right time, or simple images of subjects that surround our everyday lives (and that many of us forget to take the time to fully appreciate) we want to see them!

This months prize - A Wildlife Tracking Weekend For 2! - We have an absolutely brilliant prize for our Jan/April Photo Competition, two places (for the winner and a friend) on a Wildlife Tracking Weekend courtesy of Woodland Ways Bushcraft & Survival School. A perfect way to practice those wildlife tracking skills!

PLEASE NOTE: This month's competition prize is only open to over 18's. Don't worry, if you are under 18, we'll be adding more competitions soon. Also, please note that the Tracking Weekend is based in the UK. If the winner lives outside the UK and is unable to attend the Wildlife Tracking Weekend we will endeavour to offer an alternative prize.

Competition Notes

  • Entries are invited from members and non-members (of all ages and ability).
  • The competition will be open to entries up to and including Thursday 12th April 2012.
  • Up to 3 entries per person are allowed.
  • Entries will only be accepted via our dedicated Flickr Competition Group.
  • A maximum of 6-8 entries will be shortlisted.
  • Shortlisted entries will appear on the Wildlife Whisperer website for one week for you to rate.
  • Winners will be chosen by the WW team (ratings from members will also be taken into consideration).
  • Winners will be announced via this website.
  • Winning entries will be featured on the Wildlife Whisperer website.
  • PLEASE NOTE: This month's prize is only suitable for over 18's

 

Need some inspiration?

There are no specific subject categories but here's a few ideas of the type of subjects we are looking for.....

  • Birds - Usually the most popular subjects. Can you come up with something a little different though?
  • Mammals - Always generates a huge amount of entries and usually some stunning images!
  • Reptiles and Amphibians - Sometimes a little harder to find, but doesn't that make it all the more rewarding when you get the shot?!
  • Insects and Bugs - The weird and the wonderful - maybe a good time to try that new macro lens?!
  • Marine Life - Above or below the waves there are some magical sights to see and capture.
  • Landcapes - Urban or natural, as long as it contains wildlife or fauna of some description.
