Spring Alive, Migration And Disappearing Nightingales

We have been following the reports of migrant birds arriving across the UK. April is the key month for migration in the UK and a great time to get out and about to watch the summer visitors arriving. The swallow is perhaps the species which most people look forward to seeing during the spring time and they are now back in the UK. An interesting project set up by Birdlife International and the RSPB is Spring Alive which asks observers across Europe to submit their sightings of the swallow, swift, cuckoo, white stork and bee-eater.

Latest Bushnell Trophy Cam Clips From Somerset

I’ve just returned to Somerset after a few days away and downloaded the clips from a couple of my Bushnell camera traps. Both had been out for three days, one by the river, the other at the end of one of the meadows which we have just planted with trees.

Tragedy At The Blackbird Nest

After spending days watching our pair of blackbirds building their nest, laying three eggs and seeing those eggs hatch, tradgey struck yesterday as the nest was visited by a Sparrowhawk.
