Otters In My Garden!

Added 25/05/2012 to Simon's Blog

With this gorgeous spell of weather, the brook that runs across our garden has at last dropped back to a level that leaves the occasional exposed beach of gravel and mud. A quick peek yesterday evening revealed some very fresh otter footprints and so it was time to set up the Bushnell trailcam.

I find an Otter Holt in my garden!

Added 26/02/2012 to Simon's Blog

A couple of days ago I was putting the finishing touches to a few nest boxes I had erected around the garden when I heard kingfishers calling from the stream in the south. Of course, I had to have a wee snoop, and made my way down to the water to carefully peak over the bank for a glimpse of them. Once I reached the brook I was surprised to find that their calls were coming from a small pool on the far side of the running water, so....

A New Visitor To The Garden?

Added 20/02/2012 to Whisperer Blogs, Features & Articles

I live on the very outskirts of Ipswich in Suffolk and am lucky enough to get quite a varied mix of wildlife visiting the garden.

We often see foxes on the live cams and evidence of their visit (tracks/droppings etc) but never any other large wild mammals, until today that is!

Project Trail Cam - Catching up with clips

Added 03/01/2012 to Whisperer Blogs, Features & Articles

Well, what awful weather we've had today in Suffolk, and by the sound of it pretty much most of the UK has been suffering too.

Bushnell HD Trail Cam clips from the Masai Mara

Added 18/11/2011 to Simon's Blog

I have been in the UK for little more than a week, and now am heading overseas once more, this time to India. And, once again, I am hosting a safari, this time for a couple I know well and admire enormously for their positive attitude and tremendous support of conservation charities.

Just before I head off though I thought I would share some of the video clips captured on my Bushnell HD trailcam whilst I was in Kenya a couple of weeks ago....

YeeeeHaaaaaaa! GOT ‘EM!!!

Added 20/10/2011 to Simon's Blog

After about three weeks of trying I have managed to record images of otters on the brook that runs through our garden in Somerset.

This morning, I went down to the quiet corner of the brook where I have positioned my Bushnell HD trailcam over the past few weeks and immediately noticed that a fresh spraint had been deposited on the marking rock.

Simon's Blog - 28th September - Signs of Otter

Added 30/09/2011 to Simon's Blog

Yet another blinder of a day! Started misty and mellow and leapt into a warm, deliciously lemon-lit morning.

My office conscience lost the battle and I sped down to the brook to continue exploring the wilderness at the bottom of our new home.
