We've just added a great new blog post from the RSPB's Ian Hayward to the 'Members Zone'.

Turtle Doves and Dragonflies.....

'It’s a hard life for a dragonfly!
Over the last couple of weeks i’ve been marvelling at the precision flying that the local hobby pair have been so brilliantly showing off. The large numbers of dragonflies were providing them and their noisy young with plenty of food in the September sunshine. I’m hoping they will stay with us for a couple of weeks yet!

You may know what I mean if you have ventured out anywhere in the evenings this summer! Mosquitoes and biting midges have been having a fiesta this year, lot’s of water for them to reproduce in followed by warm temperatures to get them airbourne in wave after wave, ideal conditions for them, much to our discomfort. Helping out on a bat survey at 3am seemed like a good idea....
